Today's College Basketball
Notes on the best of today's games.............

Louisville won its last six games vs South Florida, covering last three; in last three visits to Tampa, Cards won by 45-26-20 points. Louisville is off very emotional win vs Kentucky, has Villanova Saturday in Philly, they figure to be flat here. Bulls lost seven of last nine games, losing by 59-54 in first Big East game, vs Syracuse team playing without Harris.

Delaware, Hofstra are both playing third game in five days, with Hens' splitting last two games, which were decided by a total of three points, while Pride scored just 53 ppg in losing both games. Hofstra won seven of last nine games in series (6-1-1 vs spread in last eight); Hens lost last five visits to Long Island, by 2-14-25-24-6 pts (0-4 vs spread last four).

Old Dominion won nine of last ten games vs James Madison, winning last five played here, by 14-33-13-18-27 points- their last four wins in series are all by 17+ points. JMU is 1-2 in CAA, all three games were decided by six or less points. Monarchs are 1-3 when favored this year. CAA home favorites are 5-6 against the spread.

George Mason won its last eight games vs Towson State, winning last four visits here, by 17-5-29-12 points; Patriots are 3-0 in CAA, winning by 1-41-6 points, holding all three foes to less than 39% from the floor. Everyone in CAA is playing third game in five nights; Tigers won their last two games, both by a single point.

Underdogs covered all three Providence-Cincinnati Big East games, with all three games decided by either one or two points; Friars are 6-1 in last seven games, giving up just 54 ppg in winning first two conference tilts. Bearcats lost last two games, by 15 at Memphis, by 34 at Marquette. Big East home favorites are 6-4 vs spread in conference play.

Indiana won eight of last nine games vs Michigan, but those Hoosiers are not these Hoosiers; Indiana is ranked 226th in country, with home losses to Northeastern, Lipscomb- they lost last four games overall. Michigan lost by 5 at Maryland in its only true road game of season- they're 1-1 in Big 11 so far, losing by 12 to Wisconsin, beating Illinois by 10.

Home team won all three Marquette-Rutgers big East games; Knights got blasted in Milwaukee LY, 78-48 (+18). Eagles are 13-2, winning last five games, with Big East wins by 7-34 points- they're 1-1 in true road tilts, losing 80-68 at Tennessee, winning 68-65 at NC State. Rutgers allowed 79 ppg in losing first two league games (by 6 to Pitt, by 31 at UConn).

Home side won last three Tulsa-Southern Miss games; USM's last two series wins were both by five points. Tulsa won five of last six games, are 1-2 on road, losing by 18 at Oklahoma State, 12 at Ohio, winning by 34 at LMU. Eagles won last five games, beating Weber State by 19 and an injury-riddled Ole Miss squad, also by 19.

Things are upside down in Missouri Valley, as perennial contenders now seem to be rebuilding; Missouri State won seven of last nine games with Evansville, losing here LY for first time in last five visits. Faves are 6-2 vs spread in last eight series games. Aces were down 10 at half Sunday, but rallied to win by six at Indiana State- they're 2-1 in Valley so far.

Wisconsin won six of last seven vs Northwestern, last four by average of 12 points; Wildcats lost three of last four visits here, with losses by 15- 17-12 points- they're 0-2 in Big 11, losing home games by 4-11 points, despite leading both games at half. Badgers won first two Big 11 games, giving up 61 points in both, winning by 12-4 points.

Gonzaga beat Tennessee 83-74 in Orlando in November, making 11-20 from arc, shooting 52% from floor, but Zags lost four of last five games overall, losing by 5-5-1-7 points- only the 66-65 loss at Utah was true road game. Vols are 4-3 in last seven games, losing 92-85 at Kansas on Saturday- they open SEC play at Georgia this Saturday.

Duke beat Va Tech by 25 in ACC opener Sunday, visit Florida State in next game Saturday- they covered six of last seven tries as favorite, now host Davidson squad that misses PG Richards from LY's team, and was down 21-0 in game at Purdue last month, losing 76-58 (their other loss was 82-78 at Oklahoma). ACC home favorites are 22-20 vs spread.

Charleston has beaten TCU, South Carolina, lost to Temple by four and Davidson by five, but they're catching North Carolina off shocking home loss to Boston College Sunday- Heels shot 38% from floor, 15-27 from line, 7-22 from arc. Probably a bad time to be visiting Chapel Hill. Road dogs from Southern Conference are 13-22 against the spread.
