My plan to re-align the major leagues
Very little of the following is likely to ever happen, but I think this is a good plan to make the major leagues better.

1) Realignment.....here are the way I would align the divisions:

East
Red Sox
Mets
Bronx
Phillies
Blue Jays
Great Lakes
Reds
Indians
Tigers
Twins
Pirates
Southeast
Braves
Orioles
Marlins
Rays
Nationals
Midwest
Cubs
White Sox
Royals
Brewers
Cardinals
Mountain
Diamondbacks
Rockies
Astros
Mariners
Rangers
West
Angels
Dodgers
A's
Padres
Giants

2) The schedule.........
72 games-- Play four division rivals 18 times each......
60 games-- Six games against other 10 teams in conference
30 games-- Six games against five teams in division in the other conference, which alternates every year.

3) Get rid of the designated hitter.

4) Players are only people who wear uniforms.

5) Coaches do not come on the field during games; no stalling on the mound; you want to change pitches, just sub him like it was a basketball game. Call time, bring the new guy in.

6) No activity is washed out; if game gets rained out in second inning, you pick it up from the point of interruption. Anything that happens counts.

7) Home field in World Series is decided by who wins season series between Eastern and Western Conference.

8) All-Star Game alternates between East-West, USA-World formats; they are exhibitions, they don't determine home field in World Series, maybe the worst idea in the history of ideas. .

9) One thing we've called for that will happen next year; there will be a Baseball Channel, and hopefully they will do a great job of following the Amateur Draft every June. We know they will do fine job on daily basis. This is an excellent idea.

10) Would it be too much to ask for all the warm weather/dome teams to play at home the first week each season? It won't be something that eliminates rainouts, but it should help.

11) This is very important and probably the least likely thing to happen: $50M salary floor, $125 or $150M salary cap. Imagine how great the sport would be with competitive balance, like in NFL or NBA or the NFL.
