Last year, Duke had their QB (Riley Leonard) poached by Notre Dame, so they returned the favor to Tulane this year.

— Middle Tennessee’s football team will wear one helmet and only two jerseys this year, instead of having alternative uniforms. The move saves the program $668,000 and helps find their NIL and overall football program.

— USC is out of college football’s preseason top 25 for the first time since 2019; Trojans went 8-5/7-6 the last two years.

— New England Patriots signed QB Tommy DeVito to be their #2 QB; he joins Drake Maye, Joshua Dobbs in the Patriots’ QB room.

— Kansas City Chiefs’ WR Rashee Rice is suspended for the first six games of the season, for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.

In July, Rice was sentenced to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his role in a multi-car crash in Dallas that left multiple people injured during the 2024 offseason.

— Minnesota Vikings re-acquired veteran WR Adam Thielen from Carolina; teams exchanged 5th round draft picks, Carolina got a 4th round pick, Vikings got a 7th round pick.

Thielen played nine of his first 11 NFL seasons with Minnesota; he’s caught 534 passes for the Vikings, 55 of them for touchdowns.
