Ending of this game is the worst loss I’ve ever seen in any sport, ever. Seriously.
NC State led 31-28; they picked off a pass on the 2-yard line. Vandy had two timeouts left, with 1:04 left in the game. Wolfpack ran three QB draws, had the ball on their 4-yard line with 0:06 left, 4th down, up by three points. No way they could lose, right?
Wrong.
The QB ran around the end zone; instead of throwing the ball into the stands, or running out of the end zone, he just runs around and when he got hit, he fumbled and Vanderbilt recovered to win another Music City Miracle.
The combined football IQ of the coach/QB combo here was amazingly low; someone needs to get fired over this. Total malpractice by NC State, which outgained Vandy 446-409.
If you wagered on NC State (-3), it was even worse; if you bet on Vandy (+3), ya got lucky.
