— Cubs acquired P Kevin Gausman from Toronto, for two minor leaguers. This year, Gausman is 5-10, 4.38 in 23 starts; he might make his first start for the Cubs Thursday against the Blue Jays, in a makeup game from an earlier rainout.
— Mets traded P Freddy Peralta to Tampa Bay, for three minor leaguers. This year, Peralta was 5-9, 4.99 in 22 starts for the Mets. Hopefully, Tampa Bay’s infielders will play better defense in his starts than the Mets did.
— Bronx acquired 2B/1B Luis Garcia Jr from Washington, in exchange for four right-handed pitchers. This year, Garcia has hit 23 homers, has 76 RBI and a league-best .560 slugging %age.
— Atlanta Braves acquired P Tyler Mahle from San Francisco, in exchange for a minor league pitcher. This year, Mahle is 3-9, 5.13 in 18 starts, but he’s on a better team now.
